Shantilal is master weaver in traditional handcrafted Paithani sarees. Paithani (Marathi: पैठणी) is a very popular ethnic Maharashtrian Saree from Yeola, made from fine silk and handwoven.
Shantilal has worked as an expert weaver in R & D, Department of “Weavers Service Centre” Mumbai for more than 2 decades. As an expert in Paithani sarees, Shantilal has done excellent work for various Festival of India. He has trained many weavers, students, foreigners, in the art of Paithani and Himroo Technique.
At present Shantilal is actively involved in the Paithani weaving craft and training the new generation of weavers in and around Yeola.
